A Beautiful Deck to Maximize Outdoor Living Space
This Santa Rosa backyard was very difficult to use. When I came onto the site there was a narrow deck along the house with steps that went down to a concrete patio. At the other side of the yard was a retaining wall with steps going up to the lawn. The whole area was broken up into pieces that were too small to use comfortably. Our client needed a place to enjoy the outdoors and they needed it by Easter. (See before photos below)

Working with our client we were able to design a beautiful deck which maximizes the living space and minimizes the elevation changes. The edge of the deck goes right along the top of the retaining wall so the lawn and garden area are far more accessible from the living area.
The prior deck had been built with redwood that was nailed down and rotting. Minimal maintenance was a top priority. Our client selected Azek “Brownstone” decking which we screwed up from the bottom using our patented Deckmaster Hidden Brackets. Azek decking is known for being highly durable and resistant to fading and stain resistant. This premium decking installed without any visible fasteners is the best synthetic deck surface available.
The final result is an inviting outdoor living space perfect for outdoor entertaining. And as you can see, the Easter party was a great success!
